"You say that even if the galaxy falls on you, you would make the same choice over again. But Shuyin, what would I do if the galaxy fell on you?" Maybe it was the softie of a healer's heart to care too much about people in general. Whatever it was her feelings were developing rapidly for the man standing before her. It was almost too late to turn back. She would be able to deny her feelings for a while, but even that would hurt her in the end. But if she went further into this, what would happen if she lost him? She couldn't think about that possiblity now. She still had apprehension about what their future would look like together, all natural and just feelings.
She stopped, struggling to place words with her thoughts. A smile twitched at the corners of her mouth as her voice fell back into the teasing tone. "Besides, what would I do? Go around and heal all the people from your battles?" Right now a light tone was safer. Her thoughts were still turned to the future and beyond. What would she do if she lost him? She couldn't bear the thought at the moment. It was a high possibility that one day, one of them would be caught in the cross fire. Would it be better to step away from this relationship at least knowing that she wouldn't place him in any more harm? She would have some comfort in knowing that he would be safe, at least to a degree. Although she was usually the one to attract unwanted attention and found that trouble had a way of finding her. All the more reason to keep Shuyin away to protect him...right?
She squeezed his hands gently. "What I'm trying to say is, it's dangerous for you to be around me." She knew the moment the words left her mouth they sounded lame but the genuine concern and struggle she felt showed across her features.
