Minority Report was great. You can't go wrong with a Philip K Dick story and Steven Spielberg directing.

Tom Cruise vs Brad Pitt | ||
|
Two "pretty boy" leading men that sort of became superstars in the same decades. Which do you prefer.
Cruise has been in the better fun-block busters, but Brad Pitt has been in the better more artistic films, as well as a few block busters.... your thoughts? |

Brad Pitt without a doubt for me. I think he's a really great actor in stuff like Jesse James, doing an amazing job for that, but he also does great work
when he's playing cheekier characters like Tyler in Fight Club, he's really funny in that and in Burn After Reading, so, I'll definitely vote for
Brad since I don't really like Cruise in much at all.

Yeah, I agree, the story was great and it was visually good, as far as I remember.
But yeah, Cruise in the fat suit, abusing people and dancing was pretty amazing, lol. |

Magnolia was a pretty interesting/messed up movie that a lot of people never saw and should probably check out sometime.

I prefer pit, though I can't stand Fight Club, mainly because of its freaking fans... "The Assasination of Jesse James" was really good, and Pitt
actually produced that one, i believe. "Benjamin Button" was absolutely incredible, and should have won best picture. All three Ocean's movies
were classy as hell, and he fit in well with that group.

I've heard about it from my friend, by the same guy that directed... There Will Be Blood and Boogie Nights. I haven't seen Boogie Nights in ages
either.

It's a pity you dislike it because of its fans, but I understand what you mean.
I'm really looking forward to Inglourious Basterds, he looks pretty awesome in that, lol. He was the best part of Interview With The Vampire, I think, and he was hilarious in Snatch. |

I'm myself a big fan of Fight Club, reading the book before the movie ever came out. But I'm not fanatical to where I preach about it.
Pitt definitely has had a lot more dark and interesting movies then Cruise has. With movies like Se7en, Twelve Monkeys, Kalifornia, Fight Club and even like his small role in True Romance. |

I'm probably one of the few people who saw Magnolia in the theater when it came out, really like Paul Thomas Anderson movies. PTA also did a movie Hard
Eight that's good you should check out.

It's a pity you dislike it because of its fans, but I understand what you meanIts the same deal with late comers who started following guys like Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith who praise their worst films as their best. I'm not saying the fans are the only reason I dislike Fight Club.......quite frankly its just not that good of a film. David Fincher has done better. |

Re: Tom Cruise vs Brad Pitt

I'm just not old enough to be able to have been a fan of Tarantino and Smith from the beginning, so, from this side of the argument, I don't think when
a person becomes a fan is important. I agree about praising their best for their worst, that is obviously important.

Re: Tom Cruise vs Brad Pitt

Of course its important. Because the new fans are always most attached to the newest work, and are unable to tell new from best.

That's rubbish. Perhaps you're inable of independent thought, but that doesn't mean the rest of is. 'Old fans' might just be unable to
distinguish 'good' from 'old'. Nostalgia being a !@$%# and all.
Anyway. I go for Pitt. Twelve Monkeys, True Romance, Fight Club, Benjamin Button, Ocean's Eleven. He's got Cruise down, easily. |

I agree with you on Tarantino, that his best works are his early films.
Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, From Dusk till Dawn. |

You seem to miss the point that these recently aquired fans are the ones not capable of independant thought. They jumped on the bandwagon. But as a follower
yourself, you wouldn't understand.
P.S. QT wrong Dusk, but Robert Rodriquez, directed it....though both were great in those days, so it doesn't matter. |
