Wow, just look at all these dusty old clichés. These are your parents and your grandparents qoutes. How about some wisdom that belongs to your own
generation....

Imperial Broadcasting Center
Coruscant 1200 GST [The HNN main themes begin to play and Uthana Skyarc smiles as she reads the holoprompts projected in front of her. Suddenly, the lights come on in the studios and the news begins...] "Good evening, citizens of the Empire! I'm Uthana Skyarc and you're watching the HoloNews Network - your only source of true, unbiased news in the galaxy! Our top story today is centered around notorious Sith Lord, Bane Nathos as we bring you to Hoth where our story originates from!" [The holocam moves away from Uthana and the projector emits an icriminating image of the Sith Master]
"... Bane Nathos: Rapist?..."
"Everyone in the galaxy knows of the more than extraoridnary practices and rituals of the Sith Order. Some
reports say that the dark monks will capture children on the planets they terrorize and offer them as sacrifices to their so-called diety, "the
Force" in the name of power and honour. Bane Nathos is a known practioner of those abnormal, frieghtening rituals. The Sith Master has a history
of cannabalizing children, carving disturbing images into the flesh of his victims and among many other things, we were shocked when we found this out:
Ewok rape! Here at his home in Hoth, the Sith Master has barricaded himself indoors and has refused to speak with Holonet reporters concerning the
matter. However, the victimized party has not been silent."
[An archival holofeed of Wilfrick the Ewok is played]
"He invited me and a few others from our tribe on Endor to have lunch with him at his house on Hoth. When we got there, nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary. Except he was wearing this red, silk robe and white negligee. Almost like he was trying to seduce us! But we didn't think anything of it because he ran into the kitchen and brought us some sco- nes to eat and lunch went on seamlessly. But then, he got this mad gleam in his eye, took his shirt off and made us... 'pose' with him in a picture. I... I ca-can't talk about this anymore!" [End Holofeed]
"If Sith Master Nathos is found guilty of his crimes, Imperial forces will try to bring him to justice in
a court of law, where he could spend up to five years in prison. Hoth is owned by the Empire and as such, his property could be seized. In the
meanwhile, thanks for watching. I'm Uthana Skyarc, HoloNews Network!"

What, exactly, has this generation contributed to the halls of great oratory or witticisms? That is only if you choose to live like sheep and consume the wisdom (or lack of), opinions and art of the "nit-wits". But since you are apparently smart enough to identify the "nit-wits" all is not lost. So instead of feeling like you are drowning in a generation of slime, you might instead look beyond traditional mainstream media markets for your insight. You know all the stuff that I criticize? My criticism is not without reason. I detest the "nit-wits, skanky heiress/whores, moronic platitudes of 'hope and change', and self-indulgent young people who don't know the first thing about wit and wisdom" that you so eloquently described. But I use the rest of my time to explore what more original and enlightened people are saying today…. Democracy...a system where millions vote for others to make decisions for them, but mere thousands protest to change them.
Apathy is the ruin of society. If one must ruin than ruin with intent, not as a consequence.

I have a question for the Brits on TGC.
Alright, so I used to order the Financial Times up until 2005. I began to notice that the readership seemed largely biased for the Labour Party (although there wasn't a BLATANT disregard for Conservatives) so I canceled my subscription. Now, I don't particularly care if FT has its biases here and there but I've also just canceled my subscription to the Wall Street Journal and am now looking for something that will give me a healthy, relatively *unbiased look at the market and world politics. I keep up with FT on the internet and I believe that Lionel Barber is doing a decent job at "pruning the lean." What I'd like to know is this: Is there anyone here that at least reads it, who can tell me whether or not I'll be ordering a biased rag? I'm definitely not looking for that. |

- The Bible "My school and my tribe are so poor and sad that we have to study from the same dang books our parents studied from. That is absolutely the saddest thing in the world." - Sherman Alexie "The lesson of the 1930's is that, in a time of encroaching conservatism and creeping repression, the correct response is not to flush your +%$+*## spine down the toilet." -Warren Ellis "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist a black flag, and begin to slit throats." -H.L. Mencken "This is where Dionne lives. She's my friend because we both know what it's like for people to be jealous of us." -Cher, Clueless "I told you about my cat, Jamara. I took her to the vet every Tuesday and Thursday. I liquidized her food and fed her with a dropper. I prayed for her to get better. I'd have done anything to save her, really. And yet there was a part of me -- the part that observes and writes -- rubbing its hands and saying, ' Well, at least if she dies, I'll be able to use it in Animal Man. It'll add a touch of poignancy.' We'll stop at nothing, you see. All the suffering and the death and the pain in your world is the entertainment for us. Why does blood and torture and anguish still excite us? We thought that by making your world more violent, we would make it more "realistic." More "adult." God help us if that's what that means. Maybe, for once, we could try to be kind." -Grant Morrison to Animal Man, Animal Man
