All I need to know about national rebellion, I learned from V for Vendetta, and the story of Guy Fawkes.
Let it be said though that I was very disappointed of his death in the beginning of the film. When he was caught, he refused to give names, so he was to be drawn and quartered. If you don't know what it is, google it. It's not pleasant. But instead, he jumped off the scaffolding, breaking his neck and committing treason even in death, going against his sentencing. The film simply showed him hung. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where the word Guy comes from. Mr Fawkes, who was seen just milling about, stuffing the basement of Parliament with barrels of gunpowder. Another fun fact? They wanted to see if he'd be successful. So in England, they took 1/10th of the amount of gunpowder and set it off to see how much of an impact it would have had. And it cleared a whole city block. It is tradition still on November 5th for Parliament to be inspected for gunpowder, top to bottom. God, I love history!

They're not exactly new, but I liked Dollhouse last season, True Blood has started its second season and that shows promise as well....
I've head good theings about Royal Pains; I'll see about checking it out. |
