I vote we change the colors of all of the faction sites and mix them up, so people going to check them will think they clicked on the wrong place! :P

As you bring the topic up, I was having a talk with my science-Major room mate, and he was telling me of the belief that humans are no longer going to be
evolving physically, due to the comforts and ease of life we - at least in the West - surround ourselves with. We will however, be evolving mentally, as each
generation has greater academic strain placed upon their minds compared to the previous. We've also been getting taller. So in a thousand years time,
we'll be a rather different people

Taer, that just talks about the domestication of foxes. I don't understand how it deals with the evolutionary pathways of a species. Good clip though, so
thanks for sharing.
Jessan, what about the part of our species that dose not have the comfortable life style? There is a very large population of our species that still labors quite a bit to keep alive, ya know what I mean? Yea I get what you mean by here in the west =P. Haven't our lifespans increased as well?

That's what I said :P, 'at least in the West'. Wouldn't that be cool? Two different breeds of humanity on the same planet?
Our lifespans have indeed increased, but I think - as an amateur and an enthusiast - that that is mostly due to the increased access to medical technology and better nutrition to lengthen our age expectancy. |

Duh, Ceel. But when talking about 'society' it is not necessary to break down into tiny pieces what everyone thinks and does. That's part of
working with the English language is that it sometimes leads to generalities. For example, it is a generality to say that 'The United States elected Barack
Obama President' when, in reality, it is more accurate to say '56% of American voters, amounting to some x million individuals, voted for Barack Obama,
and he won enough states that the United States Electoral College elected him President.'
Generalities are a time saver and you can say all you want that it doesn't describe society but when I look at the front page of the news stands I don't see brilliant people of my generation, I don't see poets or role models or people who sacrifice. I see Paris Hilton. |

I don't want to hear you talk about Republican hypocrisy, Mak. JFK cheated on his wife with a mistress he shared with a mob boss; he's a national icon.
Teddy Kennedy cheated on his wife and drunkenly drove off a bridge before fleeing to the hotel to construct an alibi, leaving Mary Jo to drown; he spoke at
last year's Democratic convention as a hero. Bill Clinton cheated on his wife, sexually harassed subordinates, obstructed justice, perjured himself and
suborned perjury, was credibly accused of rape, used the IRS and FBI to intimidate women who blew the whistle on his harassment; he's still a hero in the
Democrat party.
When Republicans are caught in sex scandals, they usually resign. When they don't, they're usually defeated by Republican voters. When Democrats are caught in sex scandals, we're treated to a chorus on how sex doesn't matter, and the only difference is that Democrats don't get tarred with hypocrisy because Democrats don't have any morals to tread upon. I wouldn't be too proud of that fact while you're smearing Mark Sanford. The man is scum, to be sure, but that makes him scum--not the party he belongs to or the values that he promotes. To insinuate otherwise shows just how ridiculously unhinged you are. And really: shame on you for making political hay out this. Do Mrs. Sanford and her children really need to be constantly mocked and reminded of this just so you can feel a little better about yourself, just so this can distract from the hole that your president is driving the nation into? What kind of person exploits the grief and pain of a betrayed woman for political gain? Think about that while you're sneering down your nose at Sanford. |

That would be a very neat result: 2 breeds of human. I think I will have to agree on the expanse of medical knowledge and health. Hell, it was about what? 40
years ago the average person live to be 50? not it's like 70?

Awwwwe, another democrat verses republican argument going on? Here is a FACT. politicians are politicians; they are people and will say anything to get
anywhere. I don't care if you are Demo or REP, anyone else who says otherwise is an idiot.
I am a bit like Max, I couldn't vote in this last election becouse i was registered in another state and couldn't make my way there (pissed me off) I hate this "you liberal/conservative/ demo/ rep" crap. You are a human being, think for yourself. If a person is simualr to what you think is right....or not, that is them. There is a strict line between being a sheep and being yourself. It is only until the time you can look between Demo/rep (ect) and see what is right and what is wrong with both parties that you become a real person. Then you can choose who to vote for...what issue is needed to be taken care of. Quite frankly, abortions and gay marriage should be a country's least problems to focus on. Also, who cares who is in who's bed? It's rude to think of that anyways.Politician or not.

And just imagine the possibilities with future advances. What would happen if people began to live full lives in space? Medicine advancing to the point where
it is able to prevent many of the diseases were currently are unable to cure.
Here's the monkey wrench I'm throwing. For the human race to be able to branch out into two breeds, there will need to be some sort of control on who gets to make babies with who. Inter-racial relationships are becoming far more common these past few decades. |

This generation really can't be blamed for not having a library of catchy and philosophical quotes. With so many things already done, it can be difficult
to be truley original. And it isn't wrong to look at a previous generation's quotes and feel that they hold true to your feelings, and to even be
inspired by them.
It also doesn't help that a lot of the authors end up dead before their quotes get slapped onto someone's MySpace. edit: and just in case, yes. I do know that some inspirational people are still alive. Just saying a lot more are not able to be interviewed on TV. |
