Lara considered this for several long moments, her fingers clasping. She glanced up at the viewscreen, her dark eyes probing. She had thought of this before, not the specific instances, of course, but thought of killing someone. It had always been something that she had thought she might have to do, at some point in her life. At first she thought it was her father that she'd have to kill, during one of their many brawls, and then the men he had sent after her when she escaped. She thought she'd have to kill someone during her time on the streets.
But it had always been a matter of survival, hadn't it? She had never wanted, never imagined herself killing for the sake of personal gain. Lara wondered whether she could kill for a cause. She knew she couldn't kill for money. She couldn't kill just because someone had paid her to do it. But could she kill because it was the right thing to do? Because she could help people, save people? The young woman turned back to face Ayden, her dark eyes serious now.
"I understand. I understand, and I...I don't know if it would affect me. I have no way of knowing, do I?"
