Okay so my family owns a Dairy Farm and as you can imagine it's located in a rural area around other dairies and farmers. I myself live in town and only hang out in the rural area during work, or shooting, or working on my Camaro in the shop. Everyone else pretty much lives on their farms or dairies

Well one of the neighboring farmers was at his house at night. He had two beers over the time of relaxing and then decided it was about time to go out and irrigate one of the fields, and night irrigating is common, some guys have the employees do it and some are more hands on.

So he gets in his truck and drives out to the field. The night is moonless and there are no street lights in rural areas usually. He hits something hard, puls over and stops and gets out to find a bike and then a bicycler. The guy is hurt real bad. The farmer didn't have his cell phone on him since he was just heading down the road to turn on a pump and open a valve. He gets back in his car and hauls ass home to call 911.

By the time he had gotten back home someone else had come across the guy, used their cell phone and called 911 before the farmer. The farmer returned to the accident site and was arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, and a hit and run.

Two beers is drunk? and racing home to make a 911 call is a hit and run? Besides what the hell is a bicycler doing out cycling in the middle of the night, a moonless night at that in the country side? Whether or not he had lights would hardly make a difference. The distances you look in the country side is way different that that in town. I'm usually gazing at things that are several miles away and at those distances at night lights are tricky you can't tell if that light is 5 miles away or 5 yards away sometimes and also from what I hear that guy was in the lane.

Of course the local paper makes it sound like a drunken farmer killed a loved biker and fled only to return to turn himself in later.
