Re: DISTRICT 9 (News and Discussion)

This looks utterly amazing...
I thought it was a documentary at first, but when you see the part, "They are not Human," that was when I was like, "Oh, man! Here it comes!" The interrogation of the alien was great, because it shows that the human was the barbaric one, and that the alien wanted to go home. I think we can also say that since the alien said he didn't want to land here, they had to stop here for an important reason, such as their ship was damaged or something, and when the Humans saw the ship, they decided to take it over and do whatever they're going to do with the aliens. Needless to say, Peter Jackson does not screw off with films. He's a noted "perfectionist," plus he's made amazing films. He has a good record. |

One problem is this isn't HIS movie this is Blomkamp's movie because they said no to Halo when Peter Jackson said he chose him to do it, because he had
never made a full length movie before, this is his resume/application to make the live action halo movie.

Yeah, and the the Hobbit will be Guillermo del Toro's film, but really, since Jackson is producing both of them, it's his film.

Not really, Spielberg produced everything from Transformers to Jurassic Park III are they still HIS movies?

Yeah.
Spielberg's God of the cinema, so whatever his name is attached to, it's his. |

Re: DISTRICT 9 (News and Discussion)

He started/owns Dreamworks so does that mean all of those movies are his? Heavens no...Producers unless you're GL all they do is get the funding the
director is the creative force, especially if they are just executive producers as Tim Burton, Spielberg and Jackson are for these films

Not many producers take an active role in the making of movies (if you don't count producer-directors)

Trilogy Details On The Last Goofybender
By George 'El Guapo' Roush on July 02, 2009 lastairbenderfilm.com has an interview with Producer Frank Marshall and "writer/director" M. Night Shymaskiptotheloomydarlinglan about how long it would take to make the entire Last Goofybender trilogy: "We're shooting them one at a time, because they're being written one at a time," says veteran producer… Frank Marshall. "Night is now working on the script for the second movie, but he hasn't had time to write the second or third ones. He's looking at the arc of all three. One of the things we'll be doing is using the sets, ships and elements for each different nation in this film and incorporating them into movies two and three. We're not waiting. There just isn't enough time. Night will finish this movie, then the script and then we'll prepare for the next one. I think it'll probably happen over six years." M. Night InBangkok also talks about how important he thinks the film is and how he plans on screwing the whole thing up: "THE LAST AIRBENDER will be a very entertaining movie, a really fun summer film," says Shyamalan. "But underneath that, it's serious and talks about genocide, balance, our connection to the planet and all those things that interest me if you've seen the other movies that I've made. It felt like an important film." It felt like an important film? Our connection to the planet? I think you severed that connection when you made The Happening. That movie was so awful I'm surprised trees don't try and fall on you when you walk by them. Sounds like M. Night is going to try and make this a deeper movie than it should be because he has such a boner for the elements. And Goofybender is all about elemental powers. Perfect fit! |

Well, look at the trailer, the poster, etc.
Peter Jackson's name is first, on top, and right there for everyone to see. Everyone feels better if they know he's behind it. If the trailer said, "Neil Blomkamp presents," most people would probably go, "Who the heck is Neil Blomkamp?" |

Yeah, sure, they may not have directed, but being the director doesn't always mean you're top chair. They bring in these guys because they're that
amazing.

By the way, I have a feeling that this movie will get anvilicious.
Would it be a surprise to anyone if this movie tries to shove a moral lesson about the dangers of segregation for two hours? |

There is an alternate reality game set up for District-9, something along the lines of what Lost and Cloverfield has done.
