What Part of the NT.... |

|
Did you like better than the Old Trilogy? Was it the action, the CGI, what? Even if you preferred the original trilogy, was there something about the new
trilogy that was just flat out better?

The sets and animation was just beautiful... beautiful the worlds the fighting, the variety of characters you could have was amazing plus... Golden Age of the
Jedi Lightsabre combat

The CGI was awesome, the action was far better than the original trilogy...but one thing that really topped it off for me was the cohesion of it. By that
point, the span of time between the original and the new had formed a huge EU base that made the universe it was set in so much more filled out. The new
trilogy seemed like it wasn't flying by the seat of its pants, unlike the older one.

The portrayal of a galactic conflict was better. In the OT you never really got away from the impression that the rebellion totalled a few hundred in ANH.
The lightsabre battles were more complex, but were they better? I liked the OT ones because they all had a purpose. Some of the NT ones seemed gratuitous. However, regardless of that, the fights were all fantastic. |

Remember those in NT had been trained with the saber... Luke barely had any training and Vader was fighting with ... robotic arms

Naturally, but I liked the OT fights. I think the lack of whizzing around actually helped a lot.

Yeah but ... flipping around and actually swordfighting was better htan just pure hack and slash

Phylis Alince |

True...but while the OT was doing kendo, the NT was doing ninja stuff.

Same guy did the Choreography...the styles were different between in one they were trained and had the finese the other they did not

Nah, in the OT, Vader couldn't physically do the acrobatics needed.

See there were expectations set in the OT that had to be met in the NT. I'll jot down a few that were met and few that were not met.
Yays - Jedi badassness. Met in dozens when you see Qui Gon go through problem after problem with that Jedi Level headedness. - Sith badassness. Maul, nuff' said. - Yoda Badassness. Now we saw the little dude lift a starfighter from a swamp. We all knew he must have been hella powerful. And then we saw it happen. Man Yoda picking up his lightsaber....YAAAAAYYYY - Obi Wan badassness. Yes, albeit a bit corny at times McGregor did a damned fine job of portraying a maturing Obi Wan. I liked his acting best in ROTS. - Mace Windu. What? - Bounty Hunter badassness. - Jango Fett. Boba's daddy and all out badass bounty hunter. - Space Combat - We can all agree that the CGI was flowing when it came to space combats making them sheer awesome. Nays - Vader badassness. Fail. His conversion did not convince me at all. AT ALL. Especially cause he choked Padme to death, while his entire flimsy reason for going over to the Dark Side were to save Padme. And this is a very important Fail considering how dominating Vader was we were dying to see how Vader became the Sith he was. Or at least I was. - Dooku badassness. Fail. More a Maul expectation than an OT expectation, but still. I liked him until he started fighting, then he got funny...I only liked him in the Yoda fight and that too cause mostly I was watching Yoda. - Palpatine Badassness. Though not a complete fail, his final moves were ehh...to say the least shoddy considering how much of a master manipulator he was. And his cackling just pissed me off to no end. He couldnt stop cackling. That's about all I can think of right now. |

I was impressed by the artistry of some of the fights. Not necessarily the fight scenes as a whole, because some of them do degenerate into a crazy mess (which
is representative of a fight, in fairness), but if you pick a single character and follow them through a scene, then do the same with another character,
they've both got a different style and strength and that's really kickarse.
Also (have I fanboyed this enough yet?) Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan as a team were thoroughly awesome. I adored this glimpse into the Jedi Order as it had been for thousands of years. |

The duel in TPM was indeed pure finesse you could follow it easily, very non-chaotic yet fully dramatic and had awesome music

Yah, that was a kickass duel.

While the rest of NT has the awesome ground battles they just couldn't have in OT

I just really like the Lightsaber battles in the New Trilogy. Much more epic and large in size.

The lightsaber battles each fit their respective trilogy. You can't expect a cripple Vader and a kid to fight like masters in the original trilogy...but
nor would the style seen in the classic trilogy really work in the world of the prequels.

I think the CGs for the clone troopers are good... massive land battles that are different from the original.
|

Bane Nathos |

Seeing massive battles was great but remember they could in the prequels because the armies were a lot bigger and the troopers were more expendable

well, in it would have been hard to shoot thousands of actors in 4 foot of snow during a blizzard in Norway for Empire Strikes Back. They couldn't even get
out of the hotel to film....
