-2200 hours [The theme music comes to an end and Chiss reporter, Carina Sakoto begins to report for the evening edition. The news begins.] "Good evening, citizens, and welcome back to the HoloNews Network. As all loyal viewers of the Empire will know, our forces recently took into custody, Jedi aggressor and Rebel sympethizer, Corringath Ventraas. As part of his arrest, Ventraas has been put on trial and is currently undergoing a hearing in our Supreme Court. We would take you live there but, unfortunately, the Court room does not allow HoloVids and streams. However, we will be recieving reports shortly from one of the magistrates." [Carina turns to her other desk as the Galactic Events segment begins.] "Yesterday, the IBI reported a possible Rebel uprising on Kuat, according to an intercepted package they recieved yesterday. Concerning this, Admiral Disra met with our media again this afternoon and refused to comment. Instead, a spokeman replied, quote: [Archival HoloVid footage of the event is broadcasted. The spokesman is in front of the Imperial Academy on Endor.] 'We are not able to release full, definitive statements until a conflict is finally confirmed. There remains little evidence yet, but Admiral Disra would still like to remind Imperial citizens to keep vigil and support the Imperial Navy and the Army to the best of their abilities.'" [End HoloVid footage] [The camera goes back to the reporter. She shuffles her papers and smiles.] "Well, it seems as if the Empire is working hard to maintain galactic peace. Tune in tomorrow morning, in the meanwhile stay safe and good night. This is the HoloNews Netowork." [End Transmission]

Re: School Implements NO TOUCHING policy... wtf?

This is just downright silly. I mean... It's such a waste of instructional and administrative energy. Instead of doing positive things with their time by interacting with good students and intervening when problems arise, teachers and school
officials and going to be enforcing this ridiculous rule.
Regarding physical contact, there only need be two simple mandates in middle and high schools: - No fighting - No fornicating ... so simple even a twelve-year-old can grasp it. There's no need to punish an entire population because of a few extreme cases. Make your expectations clear, punish any offenders and let kids be kids. They're going to hug, roughhouse and hold hands. It's instinctual and natural. Physical contact is all part of their socialization and maturation. They're learning how to interact with their peers and how to behave in a public setting.... and they need to figure these things out on their own (with reasonable guidance, of course) because they won't be under our wings forever. I find it hard to believe that the school psychologists working for the district would condone this sort of thing. It just seems contrary to normal, healthy developmental progress. |

-0600 hours [The camera rolls in the Imperial Broadcasting Center early in the morning on Coruscant. The only exception is the absence of Carina Sakoto. In her stead is a human, Coruscanti male, dressed in professional attire. He shuffles through a stack of papers and smiles as the news goes live on air.] "Good morning my fellow Imperials and welcome to the HoloNews Network. I'm Barek Halek and I'll be filling in for Carina Sakoto while she is on her break." [The camera flips to the holoprojector which is projecting an image of the current Imperial credit] "This morning, the Corporate Sector Authority has announced the production of new credits in order to commemorate the achievements of the Empire's military. While the former credit had the image of our Imperial Palace on Coruscant, this new one will be sporting the esteemed Admiral Disra." [The image of the current credit is replaced by the new one.]
"The Sector has said that the new credit will be in circulation throughout the week." [The camera goes back to Barek, who is smiling as he reads off the holo prompts ahead of him.] "Reporting from Coruscant, we hope you will join us again tonight. I'm Barek Halek, HoloNew Network - have a good morning, citizens!" [End Transmission]

Re: UFO's, aliens, and creatures, oh my! Part VII

On a submersible dive off the Bahamas, Mikhail V. Matz of the University of Texas at Austin and several colleagues were seeking big-eyed, glowing animals
adapted to darkness.
Yet as they cruised above the seafloor, the team was distracted by hundreds of bizarre, sediment-coated balls the size of grapes. Each sat at the end of a sinuous track in the seafloor ooze. Indeed, the balls appeared to have made the tracks; some even seemed to have rolled upslope. The team collected specimens and identified the creatures as giant protozoans, Gromia sphaerica, each one a single large cell with an organic shell, or "test." When cleaned of sediment, the test feels like grape skin, but squishier, Matz says. Surprisingly, the tracks on the Bahamian seafloor resemble grooves found in sedimentary rocks formed as long as 1.8 billion years ago. The ancient grooves, bisected by a low ridge, had constituted the only evidence that multicellular, bilaterally symmetrical animals, such as worms, might have evolved so early in Earth's history. Matz's discovery [of modern tracks apparently left by G. sphaerica] suggests that protozoans could have made those fossil traces rather than more advanced animals, which probably appeared much later. The next earliest evidence of multicellularity and bilateralism in animals occurs in fossils 580 million and 542 million years old, respectively. G. sphaerica are rhizopods, an ancient protozoan group. Matz is planning further studies of the species, about which little is known. The findings were detailed in the journal Current Biology in November. Truth is relative, so maybe I just don't buy into everything you buy into. You said, "It came to be their most prized possession." Whose to
say those people wanted to be dominated though just because Rome held that land in high esteem? The victors and people with power write history, so you never
know. That's why I'm not too concerned with the past, I'm only concerned with now. I just use the past as examples, I'm just offering a more
humanist view....you guys could continue to be barbaric if you want |

Yeah, recess was the #%@!
And Sophie, Conneticuit has no school psychologists, just a few social workers. Connecticut doesn't have much money, we barely have enough for teachers. There have been so much cuts in education I doubt I'm everyone in our classes will get books next year. In my Pre-calc book, gas is still under a dollar O.O But yeah, there is no money to spend on this. Time and effort should be focused on the education. I have a feeling our school is going to get it's accreditation revoked because we don't have the money to hire janitorial staff. Our school is a mess. |

Excellent news.
The sea is full of creatures, no doubt, that are still thriving from the Mesozoic era. The coelacanth, for example, was a fish that was said to be extinct at the end of the Cretaceous era, about 65 million years ago. Though, back in 1939, off the coast of Sotuh Africa, they found a living coelacanth. Since they, they found many others. I have no doubt in my mind that there are other creatures like that in the ocean.

Re: US deploys warships as North Korea prepares to launch missile
Gates: U.S. Not Prepared to Respond to North Korea Missile LaunchThe defense secretary told "FOX News Sunday" that the United States can do nothing to stop North Korea from thumbing its nose at the international community by test-firing a long-range missile.By Bill Sammon FOXNews.com Sunday, March 29, 2009
The United States can do nothing to stop North Korea from breaking international law in the next 10 days by firing a missile that is unlikely to be
shot down by the U.S. or its allies, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Sunday.
Appearing on "FOX News Sunday," Gates said North Korea "probably will" fire the missile, prompting host Chris Wallace to ask: "And there's nothing we can do about it?" "No," Gates answered, adding, "I would say we're not prepared to do anything about it." Last week, Admiral Timothy Keating, commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific, said the U.S. is "fully prepared" to shoot down the missile. But Gates said such a response is unlikely. "I think if we had an aberrant missile, one that was headed for Hawaii, that looked like it was headed for Hawaii or something like that, we might consider it," Gates said. "But I don't think we have any plans to do anything like that at this point." North Korea has moved a missile onto a launch pad and says it will be fired by April 8. Pyonyang insists the missile is designed for carrying a communications satellite, not a nuclear warhead that the secretive nation appears bent on developing. Gates said while he doesn't think North Korea has the capability yet to shoot off a long-range nuclear-tipped missile, "I don't know anyone at a senior level in the American government who does not believe this technology is intended as a mask for the development of an intercontinental ballistic missile." Gates conceded that North Korea will likely get away with thumbing its nose at the international community by test-firing the missile. He also said that six-party talks aimed at curbing Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions have been largely fruitless. "It's very troubling," Gates said. "The reality is that the six-party talks really have not made any headway anytime recently." Gates also lamented that the missile launch planned by dictator Kim Jong-Il comes just two months after President Obama took office. "If this is Kim Jong-Il's welcoming present to a new president, launching a missile like this and threatening to have a nuclear test, I think it says a lot about the imperviousness of this regime in North Korea to any kind of diplomatic overtures," he said. Gates also said Japan is unlikely to shoot down a North Korean missile unless it drops debris on the island nation. The Obama administration has signaled it wants to scale back the deployment of a missile defense system that was initiated by former President George W. Bush. The White House is also talking about dropping plans for missile defense facilities in Poland and the Czech Republic. Gates lamented the futility of diplomatic efforts toward North Korea and Iran, another nation with nuclear ambitions. Despite the Obama administration's talk of ramping up diplomatic overtures toward Tehran, Gates was pessimistic about that strategy. "Frankly, from my perspective, the opportunity for success is probably more in economic sanctions in both places than it is in diplomacy," Gates said. "What gets them to the table is economic sanctions." ![]() |

-2200 GST [Carina Sakoto is back at the HoloNews Network studios. She patently shuffles her papers and smiles as the theme music begins and the HoloCams begin to roll. The report begins.] "Good evening, citizens of the Empire and welcome back to the HoloNews Network. As you may know, things have been a bit slow throughout the galaxy today but that's not the case everywhere. The Imperial High Command announced just an hour ago that the Pter Arkin Academy, Naval Reserve, will recieve a new assembly of upgraded TIE Fighters." [An image of the new TIE Fighters appear.] "Unlike their predecessors, this lastest model will address the issue of shielding and a more fast-break laser firing system. As you can see on the photo, the laser housing will be space further apart and the shielding has issued the same as the Advancedx1." [The camera focuses back on Carina.] "The Empire has approved these new ships at Kuat in order to advance the Imperial cause on Alderaan. As you know, the Rebels have launched an assault near the Aldera Royal Palace and according to the IBI, there is a distinct possibility of a fleet assault from the Rebellion. Let us all be thankful for our military and remember to keep watching the HoloNews Network for more updates. I'm Carina Sakoto, thank you and good evening!" [End Transmission]
